[Wswss] Is anyone using a Kenwood TS-2000X on 2m and above?

I have one and very happy with it. Very easy to hook amplifiers up to and
you can set the power level for each band so when you run amps you are very
safe with drive.

I have used one roving for many years.

Another nice feature I have used on occasion is the remote control head.
Handy when you have a back seat operator and you want to see what they are
doing or take control while the other is driving.

This radio's is one of my keepers.

Hello everyone,

I'm strongly considering selling my Yaesu FT-847 toward the purchase of a
Kenwood TS-2000X, for a few reasons.

First, the 100w on 2m and 50w on 432 MHz would be an improvement.
Also, with this model of the TS-2000, coverage of the 1.2 GHz band is
built-in, so no messing with a transverter is necessary.
Finally, the FT-847 is getting long in the tooth, technologically speaking.

The FT-847 is essentially factory-new, minus the box. I bought it back in
2001 after attending a satellite seminar, then never became interested in
that aspect of amateur radio and never used it.

I'd appreciate anyone's opinion. If I get more positives than negatives,
the FT-847 will be for sale.

Thanks in advance an 73 de Jim - AD6CW
