Friends,

This is an update to my email about SSB USA. There have been 8 replies to my
original posting. Five of the 8 respondents replied to me privately. Two
replied to the VHF, WSWSS and Moon-Net reflectors and one replied only to
the Moon-net reflector. 

Of the 8 responders, 7 had as bad or worse stories about SSB USA than my
story. One responder was an alternative repair service (thanks Jeff!).

The reason I sent the preamp to SSB for repair is that is where I purchased
the preamp and, in my first call to him, Gerry assured me that he had an HP
8970 N/F meter to properly set the bias on the GaAsFET for best S/N. As
stated earlier, I sent him the preamp based upon the information he gave me
in our first phone conversation in January. I have called him three
additional times since then asking about my preamp. Each time he assured me
that he would get it out right away! I subsequently sent him a letter a few
weeks ago (after the June VHF contest) instructing him to return my preamp
repaired or not. He has not replied.

This is the last email from me to the reflectors regarding this subject.
Sorry for the bandwidth and your time but I thought it was valuable
information for the groups.

I do not like writing this email but I must. I returned a 2 meter preamp to
Gerry at SSBUSA for repair after last January's VHF's contest. I called him
before I returned the preamp. Gerry assured me that the preamp would be
repaired and returned to me within a couple of weeks. I called him on THREE
additional occasions BEFORE the June contest. The last time I called him he
assured me that the preamp would be repaired and would be returned to me
before the June contest..That didn't happen. I sent him a letter five weeks
ago asking that my preamp be returned to me repaired or not. He has not
responded. Period and he has my preamp!

 

I do not like to send message such as this, but it appears that SSBUSA and
Gerry is a DEADBEAT!

 

My reason in sending this email is to make my VHF and EME friends beware of
the Non-existent service and deception of Gerry's service practices.
