Hi, All: David Peters asked me to do research on the Fresno motels that
are close to your WSWSS Ham Radio Conference.

I checked on the following motels (from the list on David's WSWSS
announcement re the Fresno conference):

       1. The Crossland - no lounge, double: $55.99 (about 5 years
old) -
3460 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno - (0.53 miles away from
Mike's/Myrna's). This hotel (couldn't find it in the 1999
tour book) - has two 3AAA stars - (guess, I could go and get a
new tour book!!).

       2. The Quality Inn (the old Ramada Inn), 4278 W. Ashlan Ave.,
Fresno 93722
Double: $69.00; she'll give us the disabled room/King for
$69.00 also! The bar/lounge/restaurant might stay open
till 10:00 p.m. (I'll talk to Ollie, the new owner on 9/5,
to see if he'll leave the bar open till a little later for us). I'll
call again to see if we could talk them into a package deal. Hank
wants to reserve this hotel - we'll be there Fri. and Sat.
I pulled up the map to the Quality Inn - take #99 to Ashlan
Avenue - from our home in Long Beach - takes 4 hrs/114
min., 243.7 miles.

       3. The Piccadilly Inn (2305 W. Shaw Ave - 1.45 mi. away) is the
most expensive ($96.00-double). It does have four stars
and a bar to 11:00 p.m. - boy, Fresno sure closes down
early!!

       4. Checked on the Travel Lodge - no lounge, no restaurant,
$59-double.

       5. Called the Holiday Inn, 5046 N. Barcus Ave., Fresno (1.66 mi.
away). Double: $89 with 3AAA membership; no bar, no
restaurant.

       6. Called the Comfort Inn, 5455 W. Shaw, 1.81 mi. away - no bar,
no rest.

       7. Called the Garden Inn, 4949 N. Forestiere Ave, Fresno, 1.51
mi. away - no restaurant, no lounge.

Hank and I will stay at the Quality Inn ((559) 275-2727)). I'll make the
reservations Thursday. Call us when you get in on Fri., 10/8, late
afternoon - we'll go with David, et al, to the Home Town Buffet in Fresno
(corner of Shaw and Marty) that evening at 7:00 p.m.

Please make copies of this for those that don't have a computer. Hope to
see you there. We XYLs/Ladies will probably take off to go shopping,
lunch, etc; so, please tell your wives/ladies.
