Success!
The N connector at the antenna end of the cable was bad. The RG-213
was old and unknown to me so it was swapped out for a chunk of CQ-106=20
low loss RG-8 from The Wireman.=20
An immeadiate improvement was noticed on site. The SWR at .288 is a bit=20
high at 1.6 to 1 but usable. Leavng the site, the signal level never =
went below=20
S9 the 18 miles back home.=20
Output power was measured right at 8 1/2 watts at the transmitter. With=20
careful listening and good conditions it should be audible for quite a =
ways.=20
I allready have plans to swap it out in the future with a SSB rig =
playing a
.WAV file of a combined JT44 / CW msg simular to what KJ6KO is doing
with his 2M beacon in CM88.=20
Next on the list is to get the FT-620B setup with a xtal for 50.062 Mhz, =
rack
mounted, and ready to install at the site.
Any reception reports would be greatly apprecialted!=20
