Just to underscore the point, when I got this 500B, the main power 
transformer was gone, the one from the mod deck had been substituted and 
held in place by a single bolt (I guess the holes didn't quite line up 
;-)) - there was a solid state relay lashed in along with other 
non-original parts, and the modulator tubes and sockets were in a 
plastic bag.   The guy said "it makes a good sideband linear now".    I 
think he pronounced it "leenyar" ;-)   I doubt he was the one who made 
with the glyptol as he'd done radical surgery on the modulator instead.

Fortunately it was in nice shape and with a little help from Peter Dahl, 
restored to stock a condition.
