Oops...  Right you are.   Got carried away there!

Actually the "6S6" bulb is available in many voltages from 6V to 130V.  
It is a 6W bulb, and certainly in the Globe Scout 680A is a 120V 
version.  A 130v version would last a LOT longer if you could find it.

Yes, you can replace an individual component or the entire circuit with 
discrete components.  Just choose replacements of proper voltage and 
power ratings for the circuit.  Disc ceramic caps and 1/2W resistors 
should work fine.

As for the 680A, the only thing I know about it is that the original 680 
doubled in the final for 6M, resulting in very little RF out on 6M!   
WRL offered the PB-1, which was a doubler in a small chassis that was to 
be mounted inside the 680, allowing the final to work "straight through" 
on 6.   I don't know, but I suspect the "A" had that stage added.  I DO 
have a Globe Scout 65A, Globe Chief 90, 755 VFO and a Globe King 500, so 
am familiar with some of their quirks.!
