Subject: [BARS] FW: [QST] FLARC General Meeting reminder, 21 May 2013 7:30PM

Greetings, FLARCians - -

As usual, we will be meeting at UW Space Place, in the lower level of the
Villager Mall at 2300 S. Park Street.
The meeting will start at 7:30PM local time,
with doors opening at 7:00.

This note is coming out early because I hope to
be in Dayton
later in the week.  While I suspect there may be Internet connectivity
even in Ohio,
my attention will be on things other than sending this reminder. J

Back to the important stuff - -

Our featured program will be
presented by Matt / KC9ULS  on the topic of Portable Antennas. He will
have examples of various compact, readily-transportable antennas available for
your inspection, and will enlighten us on some of the trade-offs that are made
when selecting one configuration over another.
Some of these antennas are
suitable for use while ‘pedestrian mobile’, and others are better
suited to ‘picnic table portable’ operations.

The VE session following the recently completed
General Class was very productive - - we look forward to hearing from those who
successfully upgraded, and congratulating the participants.

      In the Business meeting part
of the gathering, we are anticipating a visit from Tom / WJ9H.  Tom is the
Vice President of MARA, the Madison Area Repeater Association.
MARA
has suggested that the possibility of a MARA/FLARC merger be investigated, and
Tom will be helping us understand what might be involved in such a
merger.
Bring your questions and thoughts !

Since this is our first meeting after the
Dayton Hamvention, we may be able to encourage those FLARC members returning
from Dayton to share highlights of their Hamvention experience - - those of you
who will be going to Dayton, please be prepared to tell us about items that
caught your attention !

    The June meeting will
NOT be at UW Space Place
- - it will be a Field Day site walk-through at Badger Prairie Park.  The June
Meeting will also start at 7:00PM, rather than 7:30 - - taking advantage of the
daylight to see what needs to be seen.  For those who need directions to
the Field Day site, remember to check the ARRL website Field Day site locator -
-  enter W9JZ in the search
box.

(The map is zoom-able, like other Google maps.)

Hope to see you at the meeting!
