Greetings,
On Saturday, June 9, 2012 hams from southeastern and south central Wisconsin
will join with the MACC Fund, volunteers and bicyclists from all over for
the MACC Fund TREK 100 bicycle ride. We'd like you to join us, too!
The MACC Fund is a southeastern Wisconsin and nationwide non-profit group
whose mission is to raise funds for research into childhood cancers,
leukemia and sickle cell disease. Hams have been active in this event for
over 18 years during which time we have helped to raise millions and
millions of dollars. The effort we and others have put into the cause has
recently paid off with the addition of the MACC Fund Research Center at the
Medical College of Wisconsin. OUR EFFORTS as hams helped to build that
research facility and the work that it does for kids with cancer.
Due to the location of this event we are especially interested in having
hams from the Madison and south central region join us!
The TREK 100 has 4 routes which travel north and south of the TREK Bicycle
headquarters and factory in Waterloo WI. Needed are hams who can serve at
rest stops, in sag vehicles and as shadows to ride management. It is
generally an all day event but I do have some assignments that are short
term.
Hams who volunteer should have a mobile VHF radio and antenna. We will have
a very limited number of radios available for loan if you aren't so
equipped.
All volunteers get a t-shirt and after the event everyone is welcome to
attend the after ride party which includes food, entertainment and BEER!
If you can join us for this outstanding even please register at the
volunteer registration page:
