[WIham] computer virus (Lee Mushel)

I've dealt with this on at least 3 pc's.
This malware/virus shows up as an shield icon in the lower right side of
your screen and pops up a dialog box that tells you you have a virus, then
takes you out to a fake website to purchase their software if you want it
fixed. Of course they are not legit. They are trying to steal your
identity, and it won't let you do anything else including surfing the net.

If you have XP or higher and have your System Restore turned on (System
Restore uses a feature called System Protection to regularly create and
save [LINK: mshelp://windows/?id=790a349a-0777-43fc-af3d-31b00a164977]
restore points on your computer.) you can restore your system to a point
before you had the "Security Suite" malware showing up on your pc.

I had to boot into safe mode, then run System Restore manually and pick a
restore point from a week before the attack. You won't loose any data or
email. System Restore helps you restore your computer's system files
(registry) to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes
to your computer without affecting your personal files, such as email,
documents, or photos.

Good luck if you get this one! It's nasty and since it's not a virus it
won't be detected by anti-virus software. It can be fixed without
re-installing Windoze if you have System restore turned on and give it
enough space to create regular restore points. read up on System Restore,
it can be your best friend if your running any Windoze version from XP to
7!

If the words "Security Suite" show up on your screen you should be aware
that you are in big trouble. This thing even disabled McAfee 2011 for a
time and it took a program called "Malwarebytes" to get rid of. It was a
nearly four day battle but all is well now.

Have fun on the air this weekend. V/UHF bands will be alive
with activity, mostly on the SSB portions, using horizontally-
polarized antennas.

However, over the past few years, more and more FM-only
stations have tried contesting, Getting on the Air With Whatever
They Have. If this interests you, then visit kc9bqa.com for more
detail. It works best if you spread the word, and get some friends
to play along.

Feel free to cross-post this info to other groups you belong to.

Hope to hear some activity on FM simplex this weekend,
