[WIham] [La Crosse Hams] vhf/uhf contest

   Hi Jimmy,

You raised a good question. Yes, any VHF/UHF contact you
work at any time counts toward your WIVUCH county total.
Contests, sprints, ragchews, band openings all count.
Please remember that repeater contacts do not count; we're
emphasizing station-to-station contacts, whether on SSB, CW,
FM simplex or Digital modes. Same way V/UHF contests
don't use repeaters.

If you're in doubt as to a guy's QTH, ask for his county.
This is especially important if they're roving, portable or mobile
away from the home QTH. If it's a home station, it's good
enough to assume they are at their qrz.com listed location.
You don't have to specifically say the county, but if you do it
gives the WIVUCH program more visibility.

You folks have seen the WIVUCH link on every one of
my emails for months now, so visit the site if you're interested.
All hams are eligible to work toward their initial certificate for
20 WI Counties worked on any combination of modes and
bands on 50 MHz and up.

Been trying to find more activity north of Hwy. 29 for a
long time now -- wish VHF'ers up there would make them-
selves known. Anyone with networking suggestions, please
email me.

After this contest, there's another WIVUCH opportunity
with the fall 2m sprint, which is from 7-11pm on the evening of
Monday, Sept. 20th. No reason dozens of 2m stations all
across the state (and Midwest) shouldn't get on for that one.
Those sprints are fun. Only one band at a time to worry about,
and a reasonable 4-hour time commitment. Rules link at:

I'll have more to say about the fall sprints on kc9bqa.com
after this weekend's contest.
It would be *REALLY* nifty if some guys would go /M
or /P and activate tough counties for that sprint. If you want
to do something like that, make sure you get publicity ahead
of time so guys know you'll be out there.
