Hi Tony and WAR Members.
I've been following the national interest and growth in MotoTRBO for the
past several years and believe that this mode has some real potential for
select Amateur Radio applications due to all of the networking and
interoperability development taking place. Unfortunately, many in the
amateur community think that MotoTRBO is a proprietary mode and don't know
that it's actually an open European standard known as Digital Mobile Radio
(DMR).
I operate two FM repeaters, one in Wisconsin and the other in nearby Upper
Michigan (146.700) that has wide area coverage that I plan to covert over to
MotoTRBO. My plan is to use this as a Lab site or learning tool because I
have more that 15 years of known drive out data to compare TRBO against.
Ultimately, this comparison will serve as a baseline to calibrate coverage
programs like Radio Mobile with real world test results gathered over time
from a TRBO system. I expect to operate this system in mixed analog and
digital modes.
Best Regards,
Bill WA8WG

Hi Everyone,
Just doing a quick informal poll to see if there is any interest in
Wisconsin for MotoTRBO repeaters. I don't see the emission mode listed
in the WAR coordination forms (7K60FXE), but know that the mode is
growing in popularity.
Thanks,
Tony KT9AC
