To bring everyone up-to-date:
As of 1400 (2 PM) EDT, we have a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of North Central West Virginia until 2000 (8 PM) EDT. We have a Flood Watch for the same area until 2300 (11 PM) EDT.
However, due to the long duration of the Watches, Tom, W8ZHN, and I have decided to hold off on activating the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net for now.
Should we decide to activate Skywarn, we will alert you via these lists and, of course, on the W8MWA two-meter repeater.
That said, the NWS Pittsburgh, Tom and I are keeping a close watch on several strong cells that have developed west of Morgantown and Fairmont. The NWS has indicated that some cells are starting to rotate—an indication of potential tornado development. These cells are moving toward the east in the general direction of Morgantown and Fairmont. Whether they reach us or not is yet to be seen.
Please continue to monitor the W8MWA two-meter repeater during the rest of the afternoon and evening.
Jeff, WB1AAL
