On Monday night we have our monthly 2-meter North Central West Virginia SSB
Net at 8:30 PM on 144.210 MHz. USB. If you have two meter SSB capability
we urge you to join us at that time.

After this net is our weekly ARES Traffic and Training Net, on
145.430MHz., PL 103.5 Hz., at 9:00 PM.

The reason to get on SSB is that your SSB signal is intelligible a lot
farther than your FM signal. In an emergency situation (e.g., the two
meter repeater is blowing in the wind) this is a good backup to have. Most
ops on the net use the same outdoor antenna that they use for our FM net.

If you would like to get into two meters on SSB, there are two local
possibilities for older used radios. One is my old one, a Kenwood TR-9000
that I have been using for the past year for just this net. It comes with
a personal guarantee from KX2A that it will work. $125. The second is
listed on Facebook, and is an Icom IC-245 in Sewickley, PA, just north of
Pittsburgh,PA. $50.

While both of these have FM and CW, I believe that neither of them has CTSS
for repeaters.

Oh, yes, do not forget Taco Tuesday at Los Mariachis in University Town
Center, noon on Tuesday.

73,
Jan, KX2A
