URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
Flood Watch
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA

The Flood Watch has been expanded to include additional counties in North
Central WV.

Wetzel-Marion-Monongalia-Ridges of Eastern Monongalia and Northwestern
Preston-
Including the cities of Fairmont, Morgantown, and Coopers Rock


1055 AM EDT Fri Jul 18 2025

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of North Central West Virginia, including the following
areas, Marion, Monongalia, Ridges of Eastern Monongalia and Northwestern
Preston and Wetzel.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks,
streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Thunderstorms near a slow-moving front may contain rainfall rates of 1
to 2 inches per hour. East-to-west training thunderstorms may produce up to
a total of 3 inches of rain on a localized basis. This could create flash
flooding of streams, creeks and on roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared for Skywarn activation
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
