A short while ago I spoke with Matthew Brudy who is the Meteorologist on
duty this evening at the Pittsburgh National Weather Service Office.
Matthew was kind enough to forward the snow report from the NWS Storm
Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma. This report was generated at 1940
EST. The full report form the NWS Storm Prediction Center in Norman
Oklahoma follows below:

As I write this the temperature in Suncrest, Morgantown is slightly above
freezing. Snow is falling but at this time it is not hitting the ground.
However, the NWS expects a snowfall of one to two inches per hour
especially between 04 to 06 UTC tonight (11 PM to 1 AM EST.) Snowfall
totals by 7 AM on Saturday are expected to be 3" to 6" Monongalia, Marion
and Greene Counties. Preston and Tucker Countries are expected to be 5" to
8"

*When you wake up tomorrow morning please tune in to the W8MWA repeater
(145.340 MHz. PL of 103.5 Hz and standard offset.)* ff we have greater than
3" of snow or if the NWS upgrades our Winter Storm Advisory to a Watch or a
Warning, we will activate the SKYWARN Net on the repeater. If this is the
case please send in your snow total reports via the net so that they can be
forwarded to the Pittsburgh NWS. (*All you need to do is stick a ruler
into the snow and report the snow level that you see.*)

Jeff, WB1AAL

Areas affected...Western Pennsylvania and North Central West Virginia

Concerning...Heavy snow

Valid 170040Z - 170445Z

SUMMARY...A swath of moderate to heavy snow is expected to spread east
across the upper Ohio River Valley into the Western Pennsylvania and
North Central West Virginia through the evening hours.

DISCUSSION...Over the past several hours, a semi-persistent band of
moderate to heavy snow has shifted east across the Midwest and middle OH
River Valley. Surface observations and web cams under this band have shown
visibility reductions down to 1/4 mile at times, indicative of moderate to
heavy snowfall rates.

Snowfall reports over the past 1-3 hours support this idea with multiple
reports of 3-5 inch snowfall totals since early afternoon. Consequently,
organized snow bands capable of heavy snowfall rates upwards of 1-2
inch/hour will remain possible across for the next several hours.
Furthermore, snowfall amounts within the Appalachians may augment and
increase the potential for 2+ inch/hour snowfall rates during the 04-06 UTC
period.
