[W8MWA] Field Day - Thoughts on Keyboard Digital Operations

All:

I get a significant number of messages from email reflectors and
newsletters - from clubs throughout North America.  With Field Day plans in
play, it seems that many are planning to have a station or stations
dedicated to popular keyboard digital modes like FT8 and JT65 this year.
With the low sunspot activity we're experiencing, that makes a good deal of
sense.

Perhaps we should look at expanding our FD setup to take advantage of these
modes, as it seems this could be a good source of extra points - or - if
the HF bands are in poor shape during the exercise, it could conceivably be
the way many clubs get a majority of their points.

I bring this topic up for your thoughts and some discussion at our next
general meeting.
