[W8MWA] C4FM repeater Yaesu DR-1XE

There is a repeater, new-in-the-box, Yaesu DR-1XE, on ebay auction.  It 
currently has one bid.  This is the same repeater that we just installed 
as our new 2-meter FM repeater, and which we will also use as our 440 
repeater in the future.  It turns out that this also supports a 
microphone, and, of course, is synthesized, so it could be used as a 
regular/C4FM base unit, or even, if you drive a Hummer or a camper, a 
mobile unit.  The current bid is $450.  I doubt that it will stay there, 
but, if you are thinking of getting into C4FM in a big way, there is not 
much bigger than this.  It even has cool rack handles.

This unit is 19" x 15" x 3.5", so it would be quite a handful as a 
handheld, especially with a 12-volt wet cell or LiON battery, but you 
would be the hit of Dayton as you spoke to club members using this, or 
even if you stood on a table in the flea market and let others repeat 
through you (you could put the repeater on the table and just hold up 
the antenna).
