Hello everyone,

First of all sorty for the botched email earlier. I dropped my phone and somehow that caused the email to g out.

Second of all. As some of you definitely heard dean (KD8YNY) and I spent some time this evening experimenting with the C4FM mode on 146.58 simplex and had what was as far as either of us knows the first C4FM qso in the greater Morgantown area.

We got off to a slow start mainly because I apparently was not smart enough to use my new radio :-) but once we worked out a few issues had very promising results.

Using the data/voice mode intelligible voice was decoded properly near the noise level and the audio quality was very good.

Unfortunately we were unable to establish contact using the Wide bandwidth voice mode because our signal was so near the noise level.

C4FM is the digital mode our new repeaters will support so it was fun to experiment with this mode and learn a bit about it.

If anyone else is interested in trying out this mode reply to this email and we will set up a time that works for everyone and meet on the air.

73,
