*** NJ Maker Day 2019 March 23 ***
New Jersey Makers Day is a statewide celebration of making and maker culture that takes place every March in the Garden State. The primary goal is to enhance community engagement and facilitate connections among New Jersey residents by exploring new and interesting opportunities for community-wide education, entrepreneurship and hands-on learning experiences.

Following on from it's success last year, the South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) ( https://www.qsl.net/nj2sp/ ) will demonstrate Amateur Radio and offer soldering classes for young people. Youngsters will have the opportunity to build one of several project offerings including code oscillators, digital clock, digital thermometer, LED flashlight, wireless FM mic, and 8-note music synthesizer.

Additionally, the 721st Mechanized Contest Battalion (721MCB) ( http://wc2fd.com/ ) will activate a station and show off some of it's projects at the:

Field day is June 22-23 this year.

The ARRL Field Day web site( http://www.arrl.org/field-day ) has been updated with information for 2019!

*** Volunteers Needed: Chapel 5K Run in Lincoln Park ***
Dave Pandoscak, K2NEC, is communications coordinator for the 2019 5K run and needs your help.

He is looking for volunteers for the Chapel 5K Run in Lincoln Park Saturday May 4th.

*** NNJ ARES 5 Watt Challenge 2019 ***
Let's test our ability to communicate without repeaters and commercial power at 5 watts. This year's NNJ ARES 5 watt challenge will Saturday April 13th from Noon to Midnight (4/13 1600Z - 4/14 0400Z)

Rules:
+ 5 watts Max power, HF or VHF
+ The use of the internet prohibited
+ The setting of schedules via radio is encouraged.
