Folks,
The Independent Study courses for Emergency Response that Mike, N1MNV was talking about at the last meeting are available online at:

http://hamradio.arc.nasa.gov/ICScourses.html

OR

http://training.fema.gov/IS/crslist.asp?page=all

The four Independent Study courses you want are:

IS-100.b,  Introduction to Incident Command System

IS-200.b, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

IS-700.a, National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction

IS-800.b, National Response Framework, An Introduction

They are available from other sources but if you go to these sites you'll end up at the Emergency Management Institute website with, about 160, FREE online training courses. The advantage here is that you take the courses at your own pace. and you will have an introduction to the Incident Command System (AND the National Response System) that are acceptable to nearly every emergency response group out there.

You will see ICS applied to more amateur radio response work in the future and I cannot recommend taking these courses highly enough.

Also - FEMA/EMI have arrangements to get you college credits for any of these courses.

Glenn, AC2BH
