Yes, it is again meeting week!  Unfortunately, John, W2GD, had to reschedule his presentation from this month's meeting to sometime early in the new year due to a business travel conflict, so I am working on an alternate program for Friday night's meeting.  I know a number of you were looking forward to John's presentation, as was I, but John's livelihood comes before his speaking engagements.  I will let you know once I have a new date firmed up for him next year.
 
As far as club business is concerned, I would like to have volunteers from the membership to become involved with the following committees:
 
2013 Hamfest
Hospitality
Public Information
2013 Programs
 
Bill, WB1GOT has volunteered to coordinate the 2013 hamfest, but he needs our help now to make it happen successfully.  We all have an obligation to help him, but he will need a few key people to get things started immediately.
 
Hospitality is a "new" concept for CRA.  For some time now, we have not had anyone to act as a "greeter" for visitors and prospective new members, and I would like to have a small committee of two or three who would take turns with this task as our monthly meetings.  Prospective members and visitors will feel more comfortable if they are welcomed.  I would like this committee to also assist with providing light refreshment following our meetings.
 
Public Information requires one volunteer to act as the liason between the club and the public media.  This person should be a "self starter" and should take the initiative on behalf of the club to publicize our meetings and events well in advance.  You will be working closely with the executive board, so you don't need to "do it all yourself".  
Programs are an important part of our monthly meetings, and we all enjoy coming to meetings more when we know there will be a discussion of topics of interest.  It is pretty easy to contact prospective speakers - club members who have a particular interest or expertise in some area of ham radio or electronics, utility company representatives, vendors of products, ARRL officials, and other folks like W2GD who can talk about some topic of interest.  Again, this person will work closely with the executive board, so you won't be "doing it all yourself.
 
Between now and Friday, give it some thought.  We need YOU to step forward.  The executive board cannot do everything.  This is your club, and I am asking you to step forward to support it.  If I do not get volunteers to offer their services, I will appoint committee members instead.  I would rather have people come forward of their own free will, but if necessary, I will designate you to a committee.  Now is the opportunity to volunteer for the activity you prefer.  Speak up on Friday night.  If you won't be at the meeting, send me an e-mail.
