Wanted to take a minute of everyone's time to say thank you on behalf of the Cherryville membership for a very well presented program at last night's club meeting!  Tom, your information and display of home brew items that you have successfully made and put on the air was excellent, and it proved that you do not need to have an advanced degree in electrical engineering in order to design and build your own gear.  It was clear that you had a great deal of fun in the process, and your enthusiasm for doing it shows!
 
Folks, every one of us can do what Tom does, and have the great feeling of actually making a contact using a device that we've made with our own hands.  If you have an interest in doing this and need a hand, I am sure that Tom and several other members including me can offer you some coaching and technical assistance.  No reason to be afraid to do it.  It is fun and easy.  Just have fun!
 
At the October meeting, Barry, K2BC, will present on building a simple J-Pole antenna from parts that you can get at the local home center of your choice.  I am personally anxious to see Barry's presentation and learn more about this topic.  Hope all of you will come out and check out this great program!
 
I am in the process of planning out the programs for the first half of next year.  Do any of you have some area of ham radio that you are passionate about?  Do your work DX?  Compete in contesting?  Operate via amateur satellites?  Operate HF mobile?  If you do, I want to hear from you!  Your fellow club members would love to hear your perspective on the thing you like most about ham radio!  You don't need special skills to present, just a topic that you are passionate about!
 
I will also be working on getting a few guest speakers to come in.  Is there a particular subject you would like to know more about or a specific speaker you would like?  Let me know!
