[W2CRA] Club Dinner

   It occurs to me, not hearing anything about
who's coming to the club meeting/club dinner on
Friday, January 9th, that many or maybe even most
don't even know the particulars.
   You are aware that there was no December Awards
Dinner this past (2008) year mostly because no one
took the chairmanship role, and because having the
event as it has been done in the past is just too
expensive to the club treasury. The board decided
to have a dinner for the January meeting, but have
it in the regular meeting site, the Baptist Church
in Flemington. Sandra, KB2YJX and Cheryl, KB2RWY
decided to save the club even more by preparing
the dinner themselves rather than have it catered.
They have a great menu planned, but now the main
problem is we have no firm idea how many people
are coming to dinner.
   Mike, KC2CMC had asked everyone to let him know
by email if they are coming to the dinner and how
many will be in their party. We haven't gotten a
response back from Mike yet, and we haven't heard
either. Since we have less than a week before the
dinner, if you haven't sent your response to Mike
yet (his email is kc2cmc at comcast.net) please do so
by Monday if possible. You can also email me at
k2bc at embarqmail.com if you prefer. 
   Michael in his December 18th message suggested
a $20.00 PER FAMILY donation, but if that's beyond
your means in this economic climate, come to the
dinner anyway! He even suggested each family hand
in a plain envelope with or without money so no
one is embarrassed. No names, no calls on the
envelope. I think that's a great idea.
   One other thing, the only item not planned by
Sandra and Cheryl is dessert. They're asking a few
members to bring some kind of dessert to share on
a "dessert table." When you respond to Mike or me,
and plan to bring a dessert, please indicate so in
your response.
   Lastly, the time. Since it is a work day and
some will be coming from a distance, the plan is
to have dinner about 7:30, the regular meeting
time.
   Come and have a good time. Please let Michael
or me know you are coming and how many you are,
and if you'll be bringing a dessert. See you
Friday night, Jan. 9th.
