Team,
Good news: The RACES room will be getting (slightly) larger!
Not-so-good news: We have to clear off the right wall before they demolish it!
Therefore, it is necessary to put together a work-party of between 5 and 7 RACES members, 3 of which are capable of working in an unfinished attic; joists, insulation, low headroom, stuffy - you all know the drill.
I'm proposing Saturday, August 20 - from 6:30 am till no later than noon or 90 degrees in the attic - whichever comes first.
This event WILL count for annual participation requirements!
PLEASE RSVP via E-Mail!!!
***RACES Work Party Objectives and Requirements***
***Immediate Objectives***
1. Remove or relocate to 3 RACES coaxial cables from right side of room to left side. EMRAD and network cables left as-is.
There should be NO RACES coax cables remaining in the right wall.
2. Positively identify and permanently label every cable entering / leaving RACES room on both ends and 3 places in attic (over RACES room, over transmitter room and in middle).
All RACES room cables marked at both ends.
3. Eliminate slack in RACES coax cables save for 4 in RACES room and 3 (one loop) in transmitter room.
You wouldn't believe the mess!
4. Run all cables along a common path in attic.
Shortest, most direct path.
5. Eliminate all cable ties
People should be shot!
***Long-term Objectives***
Consolidate and terminate all RACES coaxial cables in a wall-mounted and labeled panel in a common location on the left wall.
Work Party Requirements:
Five to seven workers as follows
- 1 in RACES room
- 1 or 2 in transmitter room (one on 5' stepladder)
- 2 or 3 in attic:
1 over RACES room,
1 over transmitter room
1 in the middle by hatch
- 1 at bottom of attic ladder to relay and as runner
- Short step ladder for use in transmitter room
- 10' ladder appropriate for safe access to the attic
- Temporary lighting in attic (??)
- Fan / blower to provide attic ventilation (GOT - Leaf blower?)
- Tags (GOT)
- Label making equipment (GOT)
- Heavy (permanent) clear (transparent) plastic tape (GOT)
All work to be performed:
- Between the hours of 6:30 am and Noon to provide reasonable working environment
- On weekends to avoid disruption to other activity
Questions or comments?
PLEASE try to attend if you can but PLEASE RSVP ASAP!
