Norman Witherell, 80, electronic technician
ATTLEBORO -- Norman A. Witherell, 80, of Patterson Street, a retired
electronic technician, died Wednesday in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He =
was
the husband of Lola (Reynolds) Witherell, to whom he had been married 60
years.
Born in Attleboro on May 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Alvin and
Bertha (Bramhall) Witherell. A lifelong Attleboro resident, he had been
educated in Attleboro schools and had attended the AAFTS Radio School of
Chicago, Ill., Rhode Island College, and was a graduate of the =
Massachusetts
Radio School of Boston.
Mr. Witherell was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as =
a
radio operator from 1942 to 1943. He was a member of the DAV Post 91 of
Attleboro.
He had worked for Polytech Industries for many years until retiring, and =
had
previously worked for Siddall's Radio and Television Repair for many =
years.
Mr. Witherell was a ham radio operator using the handle "KIBKS" and was =
a
member of the Sturdy Ham Radio Club for many years. He was a member of =
the
First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Witherell of
Attleboro; a daughter, Diane Marino of Pawtucket; three brothers, Donald =
and
Kenneth Witherell, both of Attleboro, and Vernon Witherell of Easton; =
four
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service with veteran's honors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday =
in
the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth
Ave., Attleboro Falls. Burial will take place in the Shepardville =
Cemetery,
Plainville.
