I heard this through a friend who works in the NA Recreation Department.  Apparently, the weekend of field day coincides with an event this year in which all of the zoo animals will be treated for exposure to ozone.   As I heard it, the parks department has contracted a very large environmental firm who will be supplying trucks with huge vats in which the animals will be "dipped."  This process creates a nasty odor which can lead to nausea and for that reason the park will be closed June 27 and June 28, leaving us only the 29th to operate.  If you search for "ozone zoo" on the Internet you will find websites that document this ridiculous process that does nothing more than increase the methane gas output  of some pygme goats and donkeys.
