[Vintage-Radio] Old police radio questions

Hello again,

Updating my LAPD Communications History website some more, and would
appreciate any info about their old radios and frequencies, especially
through the 1931-1960 era.

Information I've received from several sources indicates their original
mobile radios (receive only, of course) were "modified broadcast
receivers made by Sparton, using B batteries..."    Anyone have any
ideas of what models these radios could have been (this was in early
1931)?   Would give my left something-or-other for a picture.

Also I'm filling in many gaps in their radio frequency usage over the
years, but could always use help with that.  Nobody seems to have ever
documented this kind of stuff.. wasn't "real" cops & robbers stuff I
guess.
