Hello All You Lovers Of Woofers That Still Vaporize Dust Bunnies!

A 'Heads Up' to my good friend W9RAN in the Chicago area! Bob, we need to
talk, preferably by landline. So you tell me, sir, who calls whom?

Does anyone know what became of subscriber Michael Salmons in MO? A great
guy.

I am seriously considering finding new homes for many of the remastered CDS
that I created from original issue vinyl albums. Anyone interested? If so,
please contact me direct.

Maybe WA2CWA, Pete, can answer this, as he was very active in the field when
most of what happened, happened. Can somebody please explain to me exactly
what was used in the fifties and sixties to determine what a "low
efficiency" and "high efficiency" speaker really was? Between the output
power of the amplifiers be inflated by using "peak" power and then the
introduction of the IHF system in the sixties and then the RMS ratings of
the mid seventies, the entire efficiency and handling of power areas become
more then a little cloudy!

Which brings me to this. Now the James B. Lansing Century L-100 three-way
speaker systems were rated at 50 watts continuous RMS. I think! The last
thing in this world that I would want to do is overdrive them! My Sony STR
GX-80 ES stereo receiver is supposedly rated at 130 watts continuous RMS per
channel. If that output is incorrect, please enlighten me. My sighted
readers are appreciated, but they are getting older and some of them I am
starting to wonder if they see as good as I do! Especially worrysome when I
am riding with them and hear what sounds like a Moose with a sinus issue,
then again, it could be my friend snoring!

Thanks guys.

Duane, W8DBF
