Duane,
don't give me that much credit. I would have lost of the Skiffle part.
I remember the song from it's days on radio and as I noted, it was
on either the 20th or 30th Dr. Demento Anniversary CD.
Discussing one-hit wonders, I have a book that is of that title,
"One-Hit Wonders," a collection of narratives, generally no more
than a half page or so, for all the one hit wonders from the early
1950s.
It is in my HHE shipment, so it will be a few weeks before I ever
see it again. I just did a Google search, and apparently there is more
than one book using that phrase as part of the title.
One fascinating part of handling 45 RPM disks from my old DJ
days is my recollection of the color of labels, from daily handling
of the disks. But it gets confusing because many times we'd use
promo or DJ copies and those labels were not the same color as
the store version label. In some cases, as we all know, the color
contrast on many labels were not really good, but the DJ labels
tended to have fewer darker colors and generally much more
contrast between the label background and the title/artist information.
