Duane,
I shoulda looked at my Sony CDRW. The red "over" is
illuminated whenever the unit is on. It is over the portion
of the volume bar meter that includes the highest reading
possible. If the bar meter peak gets to this point that bar
will stay lit as this is the peak of the signal and the
"over" is indicating the signal is (was) is too big
although the "over" doesn't change it's illumination level
or do anything other than to identify that spot on the
meter. It has no effect whatever on what is being recorded
or played and you can ignore it completely. The pressing of
the "clear" will reset the bar meter peak and it will
assdume a new peak. The word "over" stays lit whenever the
unit is on signal or no signal. No worries, mate. Sorry for
the confusion.
