During the same era (1946-9) as my 6V6 broadcast station, I
repaired neighbors radios. I would stuff a number of 35W4,
50L6, 12SA7, 12SK7, 12SQ7s etc in my pockets and go door to
door asking to see any dead table model radios. A tube swap
almost always fixed the problem and I asked only 50 cents
for the used replacement tube. I could make $4-5.00 after
school. (on the weekends I would collect and sell golf
balls, but that is another story)
