In 11th grade (1961) in Tustin CA, living next to an orange/avocado
grove (since all condos, of course), I built the 50C5/35W4
oscillator/rectifier (resistor to drop the rest of the filament string
from 115) from the article (in PopTronics???), and played some 33-1/3
Benny (Goodman) in Brussels etc. through it - for a while.
Never did get any reports - or complaints either. Gave it up when I
realized I couldn't take a portable somewhere else _and_ take care of
the changer too.
*Sigh*- a very short career in neighborhood broadcasting. Fixing
neighbors' TVs and adding commercial-killer buttons for a few $$ became
more interesting.
