boy, I wish I had. I was fresh off active duty in the USN at that time and
had
just started playing bass in clubs on the weekends. A few days a week I
worked
as a staff musician for the National Songwriter's Guild - a mail order demo
service. On occasions, I also sang demos for $2.50 a song, guitar and bass
brought me $2.00 per part per song. It was a living - - during that time I
was
slowly building up a stash of recording gear and I built my own stereo mike
mixer similar to the Ampex MX 10 mixer. I started recording local groups in
clubs in
l963 and in my kitchen studio in l964. Nashville was still a distant dream
which
didn't happen for me until l968. Now, 38 years later, I'm on the retired
side of
that career.
