Rick,

Since it is almost not possible to purchase a 'good', not great', pair of
stereo headphones for fifty bucks, I have serious doubts that any pair of
new speakers for the same price is going to sound 'decent', let alone good.
But what do I know? People pay fifteen dollars for a CD with audio quality
worse than the old basement studio recordings bro Barry of MoTown did!
(LOL!) A Ham friend of mine was here on Memorial Day from mid-state and
asked me to play a new CD he had purchased with some oldies sock hop group
that I had never heard the name of before. I put it on and we both listened
to my high end homebrew stereo set the mood for a nostalgia song with
excellent repro of the needle tracking sounds! Nothing like modern studio
work, heh?

Don't tell Bob I said this Rick, but rumor has it that even his socks squeek
"cheap" "cheap" when he takes his shoes off! So if you think old Bob is
going to pay fifty bucks to purchase speakers for sound equipment he bought
for less than two bucks, well, stranger things have happened! (chuckling)

Bob is a good guy, seriously. It just bothers me when anyone buys what he
did for pocket change and the darn stuff works! He even plugged it right in
Rick, never even bothered to use a VariAC! If I did that the circuit
breakers would go off like a corn popper!
