Rick, have you not a workshop for your gear?  Something sufficiently 
messy that SWMBO might not take notice of another lump?  ;<)  Moving 
projects to and from storage shelves and rearranging things in general 
also helps.  "Rotate your stock."

To address the basic question though, always fall back on the Rules of 
Acquisition.  If it pleases you, acquire it!
