Hi All,
If any of you can direct me to some other lists that I might be able to post my
vintage stereo gear on to find buyers, it would be greatly appreciated.
Because of the spam and other issues associated with the Yahoo! groups lists I
totally avoid them.
Although I had hoped to avoid selling them on an electronic auction site, it may
come down to that.
Part of the problem, I think, is that I had the equipment professionally
rebuilt. No detail was left neglected. The result was equipment that works as
good as the day it was first built, but it also increased my investment in each
piece. Hence a higher selling price than the same thing never rebuilt.
For whatever the underlying reason, people seem to want it to look good far more
so than actually be good. This applies to many things, not just stereo or radio
gear. I saw it with vintage cars also. As long as the paint job was good, they
did not care about the engine, transmission or rear end having been rebuilt. At
least not until the engine threw a rod, the transmission torque converter failed
or the differential gear had several teeth fall off!
Thank you for your assistance.
