[Vintage-Audio] Chihuahua headphones

Duane,

I discovered she would listen with my AKG's. So I let her use
an old pair of Sony headphones. And I will never let her near
my Koss ESP-9's. There have been dogs I've known that will
lay between the speakers and listen but this is a first putting
ears to the headphones.

When I get a few spare minutes I'll get out the JVC ribbons
and get the model number to pass on. I also have a photo
of the prototype system built years and years ago. The
woofer in it was changed to a more reliable Dynaudio 8"
and for the follow-on pairs over the years I have used 10"
woofers instead of 8". With either size the bass is authoritive
with full orchestra or large pipe organ. No subwoofer is
needed.

I used to build the enclosures for less than $15 a pair. I'd
go to a local countertop manufacturer who would save me
maple butcher-block sink cutouts for $1 each. My son and
I thought butcher-block speaker cabinets were cool. Then
he got married. All of a sudden they became un-cool.

Has anyone else come upon the wife factor in not being
able to use certain equipment as it does not fit the decor?
