Hello,
I was given a pristine looking Dual 1226 turntable.
It's been sitting idle for many years. I plan to
use it in a mono system I have (Heath WA-P2 & W-5M)
for playing 50s era mono LPs. It's going to replace
a Pioneer PL-12D -- I think this will be an upgrade.
I figure it needs lubrication. I obtained a copy
of the service manual for the thing. It specifies
six different lubricants at various points:
Renotac No. 342 adhesive oil
BP Super Vicostatic 10 W/30
Shell Alvania No. 2
Isoflex PDP 40
Silicone oil AK 500 000
Molykote
I'm not inclined to try and track down these lubricants,
if they still exist 30 years later. I thought I could
use, where appropriate, a high quality machine oil and
lubriplate. Can someone recommend a machine oil? Are
any of those six lubricants above a grease? Can I use
a lithium grease like lubriplate as a substitute?
All opinions are welcome. Thanks.
