I was planning to stay out of this but when I set up speakers,
I hook up the speakers as I think they should be. Then I place
both speakers about six inches apart facing each other. If I hear
good sound, they are in phase, if not, they are out of phase. Out of
phase speakers will cancel out the sound from one speaker to the other.

Once I verify the speakers are in phase, I work on speaker placement
within the room. SOP.
