Yamaha 490 is solid state. H. Scott LK-72b is tube.

It's not a problem Duane to accommodate the entire set that specifically.
The ONE possible problem would arise if either amp is solid-state AND
didn't like a no-load condition. Most tube amps don't care THAT much...
especially since I suspect your primary motive is for comparison purposes,
and you could simply turn down the amp that was not in use. It can be done
using relays and resistive loads to keep the amps happy... but that is the
proverbial horse of a different color, cost and complexity-wise. I have
been doing a lot of 'research' on this subject... some of which is adopted
in my webpage article on a comprehensive ham/SWL station Dual-Channel
8-Input Controller toward the bottom of my webpage:
<http://www.qsl.net/n4xy/hmbw1.html> . It is a work-in-progress... but, for
example, the SMT TL082's were ordered yesterday... so it's coming along nicely.

If you like, I will work something up from your description, and we'll go
from there.
