Ron-
Yes, it has been sitting idle for many years, but it is all there. Usual
stuff for one of these--thorough cleaning, new motor bearings, and possibly
new heads, although this is questionable. Plan to rebuild it myself at some
point, as it was one of the best vacuum tube era decks made. Many of the hit
records from the late 50s and early 60s were mastered on these machines.
Collecting these old reel machines, especially the professional models, is
sort of a hobby. I have a Berlant - Concertone 1/2 track stereo machine that
was made in 1957-- one of the earliest stereo components made. I rebuilt it
several years ago, and it still works great. Also have a Crown 800 series,
also set up for 1/2 track stereo. The Ampex, however, is the King !
