Hi All,
It has been fun relearning how to thread magnetic tape around, over, under,
through and between rollers, cap stands, pressure levers, wheels and so forth.
Like a maze! And to think I used to enjoy this ...
I am having a great time doing it all, again. Seriously.
I have spent the time since I sold my Sony L-Cassette deck (did any of you own
one?) struggling with high end cassette decks. ou can only do so much with a
tape speed of 1 7/8 ips. But some results are truly amazing! Then I went to DAT
(digital audio tape) and it is absolutely fantastic.
Sorry, when you clear the half century mark you sometimes start to drift like
those old boat ancors do! I need a 'GOOD' source for reels of ten inch audio
tape. I am not interested in those found in Aunt Zelda's attic buried in enough
dust to cover the floor of the Grand Canyon. But I would be interestedin some
still sealed, or almost new. (almost new? Now what the heck is that, Duane?)
Anyway, if you know of a good source for some good tape, not the stick to the
heads Ampex stuff, please let me know. Thanks.
Don't worry: the doctors assure my family that as long as I stay on my
medications I am not dangerous. But remembering where I put them sometimes is a
problem.
