Truthfully speaking, Duane, I never did get a chance to listen to a large
pair of James Bs.
I probably could-a, would-a, should-a liked them too.
My boss, the owner, liked the Bozaks best. For special customers and a price,
we had a German craftsman who would custom build humongus cabinets and stuff
them with great big Bozak tri-axials.
I once sold a pair to a very rich man to use with sound system AND his
Hammond Organ. Four fifteen inch Bozak tri-axials in each solid cherry and
mahogany cabinet. Boy, those things would get the plates in the kitchen
cabinets talking to each other.
But, you've got me thinking. Voice of the Theater ensembles are almost
impossible to find today, so, I think I would take a pair of James Bs if I
could find them.
Right now I am using Bozaks. I have two forty watt Scotts (one Scott, one H.
H. Scott) to drive them.
But the system doesn't really satisfy me. I haven't been into audio lately,
but now you've got me going. I'm going to see what I can find.
IMHO, The trouble with the systems of today is that most of the recorded
music is for electronic instruments, so they don't need to reproduce the
timbre or harmonics required to faithfully reproduce an acoustic instrument.
If you like to listen to the string bass, Classical, or, Jazz, you know what
I mean.
Plus, today's ears aren't developed as highly and people are satisfied with
less.
Happy listening.............Ron K (only my opinion)
