I guess I must be among the unknowing, as it sure sounds nice. If it is so
crude, then why do studios use them? These machines were nto cheap when I
purchased them several years back.

Duane, guess you are among the unknowing, sorry but true.
DAT is not a high fidelity medium by any stretch of the
imagination. As a matter of fact it is one of the crude
connect-the-dots digital devices. If one wished "good"
quality digital it is in the tens of thousands of dollars
and still a hair short of analog.
