Please do not misunderstand where i am coming from. I have dealt with audio for
over forty years. I am also totally blind, now. I know good sound when I hear
it. I can hear a Flea fart at five hundred yards while a 757 is taking off!
I have use professional audio equipment on stage for over thirty years. I am a
professional Magician, not musician.
I am not interested in bass that goes whump whump or rattles the bloor. That is
easy to accomplish. I am interested in reproducing a 32 Hz note and sustaining
it for X milliseconds. I divide audio into three catagories; music, sound and
noise. I will not explain who goes where performer wise - Although it would be
a fun thread!
I do not want to sound egotistical or superior. (Some of us are just naturally
gifted that way! Grin) I demand that the note coming out of a trumpet heard
live, or a bass vial heard live, be the same as my sound system produces. I hate
this modern synthesized fake music, or attemtpts at it. No matter how accurate
it may be frequency wise, you can not synthesize human creativity and
improvisation. That human touch makes all the difference to this listener. You
may hear things differently, but that is your prerogative.
When a low note passes a specific point in frequency, it is more felt than
heard. This requires a certain volume of air to be moved, physically. You can
not move the same volume of air with a six inch speaker as you can with a ten or
twelve inch speaker. Those who know true audio can hear the difference.
I am not putting down anyone with a lesser system than I have. This is only my
second system in thirty-eight years!
