[PARC] Monday PL Net

Hello all;

It has been brought to my attention that the PL-Net does not have a net
controller for Monday mornings, and I've been asked for my opinion. I do
not generally participate in the net (my employer would not appreciate me
professionally loafing on company time), but here are my thoughts for what
they're worth.

Since it appears that no-one is able to make the time commitment to take
over the Monday slot on a full time basis, perhaps a rotation, similar to
how the ARES net works, would be a workable solution. Ideally a member
could step forward to maintain the roster, even if they can't commit to
running the net. Failing that, you could call for volunteers on the Friday
net for the upcoming Monday. In the absence of a volunteer, the net would
simply resume on Tuesday.

I have also heard concerns that the net controller should be "from our
area". I do agree that because the net is sponsored by the club, the net
controller should be a club member. But don't forget that club membership
is open to all, regardless of the "area" they are in. It's probably best to
say "club member" instead.

Finally, I will mention that I have been very disappointed in some of the
discussions I've overheard on the net lately regarding individuals and
their personal circumstances. While it may be necessary to discuss
someone's availability on air to ensure the net runs smoothly, it is not
appropriate to discuss the reasons for their availability in a forum which
is available worldwide. I would refer you to club's repeater etiquette
guide available at https://ve3pbo.ca/pdfs/repeateretiquette.pdf, specifically
paragraph 5.

Although I do welcome any feedback, my turnaround time on non work email is
running about 2 days right now, so please don't be offended if you don't
get an immediate response.

73,
