Dave, VE3SD called the meeting to order at 7:33. Following introductions,
Devon, VE3DEV read January's minutes, which were approved.
In the absence of Barry, VE3BLM, Rick, VE3IQZ presented the treasurer's
report. Petty cash: $420.88. GIC: $844.55. PARC: $2,938.39.
ACTIVITIES. Dave, SD said that Winter Field Day was located at Blackburn
Hall at Trent University. There were 405 QSO's, and everyone had a good
time.
WEBSITE. Harmen, VE3EMA passed along the suggestion that when the operation
of a ham station is covered in the upcoming course, people should be given
the experience of talking on either FRS radio, or on PBO.
TECHNICAL. Rick, IQZ said that the location of TJR still has to be decided,
but progress is being made. Barry, BB said that the audio on the fusion
side of BUY isn't nearly as clear as it should be. Dave, SD said that he
would like to see more use of the local fusion machine.
ARES. John VL said that we have re-established contact with served agencies
in Peterborough, thanks to IQZ and KEA. He invited everyone on the floaters
list to jump in any time on the Wednesday night net. He said further
training will be scheduled in the next few months.
NEW BUSINESS. John, NW said that the Polar Bear rally will take place
overnight February 17 and 18. Dave SD announced that Lois and Brett
Richards have a tower and antenna on their new property which will be
scrapped unless taken away. Bob, IEL reminded folks about a box of old
books and issues of QST.
OLD BUSINESS. Dave SD said that the list of contacts is still being
updated, and will be distributed when ready.
ELECTIONS. Dave, SD as president; Paul KBI as vice-president, Devon DEV as
secretary, Barry BLM as treasurer and activities director.
Steve, VE3PTA gave an interesting history of the vacuum tube.
