August 22 2009 - Goat Island TX060L in Lake Worth will be 1st Time activated by Tri-County Amateur Radio Club QRV as WC5C , 1400UTC to 2200 UTC.  Club members will travel to the island by boat, kayak and canoe.  Commemorative 1st Activation QSL Cards will be sent to each remote contact.  Frequencies 14.250, 7.250 and others.  Club will QSY on request to fulfill HF Modes and bands requests.  CW, SSB and PSK31at a minimum will be supported.
 
Goat Island, in addition to Greer Island, has an interesting history related to the legendary Goat Man monster, stories of which have surfaced repeatedly since the 1940s or earlier, and as recently as this year on MonsterQuest and in the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
