Sounds a lot like the classic 'non-linear rectification' problem. Given
that you have a 'preferred' direction, I'd agree with the suggestion
that you use a portable sw rcvr and hunt in that direction. Those
handheld jobs coupled with a small homemade handheld yagi will give you
some directivity. Check the Handbook for some DF tips... I've had good
luck finding stuff by tuning to 130Mhz am or so, and using the
directivity to peak or null the source...
Of course, you're on your own after you find that it's your neighbors
brand new subwoofer 8-)
