Today I received three more EQSLs for a total of 15 (one was actually an
email QSL). I was very disappointed by LOTW, which showed only one QSL
related to the FQP. Ironically this was from the same station whose call
sign I misspelled (I placed an”I” instead of a “J”). Perhaps Hiram Maxim is
punishing me. Interestingly, I did receive one QSL from QRZ for a station
in Denmark. Thus my receive percentage is now 16.7% and my error rate is
down to 6.3%.
I am very surprised that stations are using eQSL at a much higher rate than
LOTW, when LOTW is essentially free and eQSL is up to a few dollars a month
depending on what level you are.
I looked up all the DX stations on QRZ and I am sending out seven bureau
cards to those stations that stated that they respond to bureau. I have
received EQSLs from several Canadian and other DX stations already.
Several stations do not list their QSL protocol on QRZ. I have noted them
and actually received some EQSLs from them both domestic and DX.
As an interesting sidenote, I did receive an EQSL from a station that I had
previously worked from California 16 years ago. He is still at the same
address. Only one is from a person that I have work since moving to
Florida. That’s a station in the Virgin Islands.
Note that these comments are mainly based on the received QSLs. The
remainder of the 109 QSOs have not really been looked at.
Mike.
